On Monday, June 13, 2011, the group met with the University of DaNang’s University of Technology. I understand if this sounds confusing, but think of the University of Technology as the College of Technology and Engineering, but with departments of an overall university, i.e. student services and budget. Our study tour group has divided into 3 groups and each group is focusing on a certain theme: internationalization in Vietnam, professional development of faculty and teachers, and the use of active-learning in the classroom. After asking our questions related to these themes, the director/head of Student Services asked about the management of the student dormitories (I use this word because this is the term the university uses and probably because they are simply places to sleep). I wish I had more time to speak with the head of Students Services to learn more about their dormitories and Department of Student Services, but our visits are 1-2 hours. I appreciated the opportunity to speak a little about housing in the United States and share some of my knowledge.
I think there is a opportunity to collaborate more in the realm of Student Services and see how it is managed in other countries.
